Support the Proposed Law to Ban Gene Patents
Readers of my novel NEXT know the arguments against patenting genes. (You can also read my explanation to Congressional staffers here.)
Gene patents inhibit research and raise the cost of medical care. Unlike ordinary patents, that promote innovation, gene patents stifle innovation.
That's why organizations as diverse as the American College of Medical Genetics, American College of Law and Medicine, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, the International Center on Technology Assessment, the People's Medical Society and many other organizations all support a ban on gene patents.
Now a bipartisan bill has been introduced in Congress by Representatives Xavier Becerra and Dave Weldon. To write a letter in support of this bill we've created these EASY TO USE generating tools.
